Mountain High

Mountain high is closer to campus and less expensive than Big Bear, and offers night skiing daily during peak season, making it a better option for students looking to ski mid-week. The resort is divided into three areas, West Resort (best for snowboarders), East Resort (best for skiers), and North Resort (best for beginners), all of which are connected by a shuttle service.

Big Bear Mountain Resort

Big Bear is composed of two ski resorts: Snow Summit and Bear Mountain. Bear Mountain tends to be more popular because of its large terrain park, as well as its snowboarder and party-friendly environment.  Bear Mountain also has a beginners area and a ski/snowboard-school program.  Snow Summit is more skier-friendly and family-oriented.

June Mountain

June Mountain is a neighbor of Mammoth, located 17 miles north on 395 (typically a 35 minute drive from Mammoth).  June is much smaller than Mammoth, with only 7 lifts, and it is most often skied when Mammoth Mountain closes due to weather-related issues.  Mammoth is prone to temporary closures from high winds, and June’s geography is much more protected.
